Giving is Receiving

The Apple Tree does not look for apples outside itself, intending to glue them to its branches. It brings the apples forth from within its own Self. The Apple Tree holds not on to its apples, neither does it decree who be deserving of them. No, the Apple Tree knows how to give, for it gives indiscriminately – this way, next year, there will be more. The Apple Tree seems to have so much more wisdom than man. It cares not for the fruits of its labour but rejoices in the bringing forth of these. A man or woman, working in this spirit, knows giving IS receiving.

So often we give because we are expected or obligated to. Sometimes we give so we are justified in receiving. Some of us refuse to receive because we don’t want to give. If we turn the thought around – every time we give, we say thank you and every time we receive we expect a thank you. Wouldn’t that be easy!
